Stefan Smith is a sound designer,  composer, musician and recording artist working in film and installation as well as on his own studio based productions. 

For six years he was the  sound designer/ composer on the infamous ‘Dau project‘ - the biggest film project in history (which was in production for over 12 years.)

At the 2019 premiere, (at the Theatre de Chatalet in Paris ),  he developed (alongside Rob Walker and Brian Eno) a sound Installation that played in the two theatres that hosted the events.

He has an ongoing collaboration with sound designer Nicolas Becker (gravity, arrival, American Honey). Through this relationship he contributed sound towards the 2016 Philippe Parreno ‘Anywhen’ exhibition in the Tate Modern Turbine hall in London.

He released an LP of his electronic music production through Sapiens records  in early 2019

Recent works includes sound and music for 

   -Roz Mortimer’s Film ‘The deathless woman ‘ - a story of the persecution of the Romany Gyspsies told through the myth of the deathless woman. 

• Sarah Beddington’s film  ‘Fadia’s Tree’ - the story of a Palestinian refugee living in a Lebanese refugee camp

He currently works as sound designer/composer for director and Video artist Marco Brambilla
